An article dedicated to the 75-th anniversary of the publication of the book by A.I. Oparin "The ORIGIN of LIFE" in English appeared in the November issue of the journal Nature (v.491, p.525, November 22, 2012). The authors (Tony Hyman - a cell biologist and director of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics in Dresden, and Cliff Brangwynne - a biophysicist and assistant professor at Princeton University) rank A.I.Oparin among the pantheon of the twentieth century's greatest scientists for providing a foundation for understanding early molecular evolution and believe that modern research does not contradict to the A.I.Oparin's theory.

From 31 May to 1 June 2012 the VII International Symposium «EU-Russia: Cooperation in Biotechnology, Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Food in the 7-th Framework Programme» took place at the Presidium of the Russian academy of sciences, Moscow.
One of the main aims of the Symposium was to discuss the recently adopted complex program of biotechnology development in Russia up to 2020 - "BIO 2020" and its impact on the EU-Russia relations in this field.
